Brian E. Hansen

Brian E. Hansen is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of BHK Covenant Energy & Development Ltd, a Medicine Hat company built around a single conviction: that good decisions about land, energy and property all begin with an honest reading of the ground.

Brian's career began in the field. Working across southern Alberta's prairie, coulee and badland formations, he built a practice in geological assessment — mapping subsurface conditions, characterising soils and aggregates, and advising landowners and developers on what a parcel could actually carry. That fieldwork became the foundation of everything the company does today.

As Alberta's energy mix shifted, Brian saw the same failure repeating on solar projects: arrays designed on paper, then value-engineered on site when the ground refused to cooperate. He moved into solar energy contracting to close that gap, bringing geotechnical rigour to racking selection, foundation design, grading and drainage so that installations perform for their full service life rather than their first warranty period.

The third strand came from the same place. Buyers and sellers were negotiating land without knowing what lay beneath it. Brian became a licensed real estate agent so that clients could receive property advice informed by the subsurface, the servicing costs and the development potential — not just the comparables.

Today Brian leads BHK Covenant's work across geoscience consulting, solar contracting and real estate advisory. He works directly with landowners, municipal councils, lenders and developers, and is known for explaining technical findings in language that a client can act on immediately.

He lives and works in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
